A Fair Warning

This is what happens when I mix Tom Waits, a memory of an Ex that still has a bad taste, and the Blues.

Artist Salute: Fats Domino

Mon Dec 14, 2009, 7:17 AM
  • Mood: Content
  • Listening to: Anything that swings
  • Reading: Nothing really.
  • Watching: Nothing
  • Playing: My guitar
  • Eating: Nothin' Really
  • Drinking: Just drank.
The man has smoked through so many decades of music, pioneered Rock N' Roll from a Rhythm and Blues standpoint and could just very well be one of the Rock N' Roll legends that will probably live forever . . . hell, he even stayed in N'Awlins during Katrina and outlasted the damn hurricane!

That's right, I'm honoring Fats Domino. The Fat Man has been at it for almost 7 Decades (most recently just in his hometown of New Orleans, Louisiana. Look it up, kiddies) and has influenced Rock N' Roll (Including such folks like the Beatles, The Doors, and almost every Rock Pianist who keeps that swingin' tradition), Rhythm and Blues (adding the Creole tradition of the French Quarter into the Jump Blues)and even Country music, where he has appeared at parties influencing a young Hank Williams, Jr to play the piano and to Jimmy Buffett, who adds the French Quarter influence on some of his works.

Several of his hits ranged from staples like "Blueberry Hill", Boppin' Second Line Beats like "I'm Walkin'" and even slow shuffles like "Whiskey Heaven". Fats, I salute you and hope you live forever.

An Outlaw is only an evil person if you look at it from a mainstream point, but look at it any other way, you see an outlaw isn't a bad person, just a misunderstood individual bashed by the evils a society can make of him.
