My personal thoughts on college, and adventure.

Mon Jul 6, 2009, 11:05 AM

People say that College is a really big adventure in someone's life. To go from being a kid in high school to a grown-up in a university and work to some big degree or something. Well, I got this to say.

I see right through the facade: IT'S STILL THE SAME SHIT THERE THAN IT IS IN HIGH SCHOOL! I honestly DO NOT see what the hype is all about here. I mean seriously, the only differences are that you stay the night at some, have to study and you'll meet new people.

Okay . . . . I can do those playing in a Rock N' Roll band with a High School Diploma and still be satisfied with Garage work between gigs.

Where's the adventure in it? Adventure is searching for gold in the Yukon, Wrestling a crocodile in Australia, Catching a ride on a moving freight train on the way to Memphis with an acoustic guitar on your back, Racing across the desert in the Baja 500, hell, going to the post office to send a letter to Tunisia is more exciting than going to school unless you really are some sort of a dork or take classes you love, which I respect, but still, I'd rather be on an adventure.

Before my inbox is jammed with why I wrote this, death threats from universities, and certainly before some other sumbitch (or my sister, who could be classified as THE bitch since she ain't a son and my mom ain't a bitch, and she ain't either when she's trying to be nice to me). Allow me a bit to explain.

This was sparked by some of the hubbub that came up when I posted on my Facebook that I'm more excited for a King of the Blues contest than I was for college. My Dad and my Sister think otherwise, but I seriously think they're on crack. I don't see the big deal in this at all (rather be having adventures than reading about 'em and wishing like what I had to do in High School), so if anyone who does and wants to try to explain it, you may start in 3 . . . 2 . . . 1 . . . NOW!

Singer/Songwriter/multi-instrumentalist mixing Rock-A-Billy, Irish, Blues, Soul, Tex-Mex, Cajun, New Orleans Jazz, Southern Rock, Old-School Country, Jersey Shore Sound, Brill Building R & B, Punk, and Motor City Rock N' Soul to create a common ground of Roots and Thrash. All while trying to fit the personal style into forming a Big Band (Think Rumble 49 with horns). The end result? Hopefully the best damn Real-Deal Rock N' Roll Band On Earth.

An Outlaw is only an evil person if you look at it from a mainstream point, but look at it any other way, you see an outlaw isn't a bad person, just a misunderstood individual bashed by the evils a society can make of him.
